Brush Control with a Round- Foundations in Stroke Work Series Part Two - The C and S strokes of Rosemaling
Thursday October 22nd, 2026, from 8:00PM-10:30PM EDT
Tuition: $30
Have you ever been handed a brush and told to paint something? This may have happened when you were little or it may have happened in a painting class you have taken. Were you happy or frustrated with the effort and results? Perhaps you blamed the paint brush for the results. You know, the Paint brush , the lovely little stick with hair on it that we are given as children and told to just paint something and you were just expected to know how to use it?
Whether you are new to Rosemaling/strokework and art in general, or you have had a brush in hand for years, this is a great class for learning how to make that paint brush and your hand work together with the result of a lowered painting frustration level and to help you create beautiful flowing strokes that will help create works of art for years to come.
The C and S brushstrokes are the core of all styles of rosemaling,
but also are the foundation of many art styles. This class that is great
for beginners and for all levels of rosemalers/painters who wish to
develop a strong technical foundation and brush control for their
artwork. Stroke work is truly key in developing the confidence in
moving forward with Rosemaling and other decorative styles as well.
In this class, Lise will demonstrate the brushstrokes up close, focusing in on how to hold your brush, direction of your bristles for proper flow of the stroke, mediums, brushes, etc. There will be general discussions about styles of rosemaling, palettes, acrylic and oil paints as well.
This class will be taught in acrylics, but oil painters are welcome as well!
You will receive a supply list and introduction to rosemaling packet shortly after you sign up for the class but there is a preview of some of the suggested material for class listed below. You will also received my Basic Introduction To Rosemaling Pdf packet that is a guideline to brushes, paints, books, websites, etc. when you sign up for this class.
This class will be recorded and after the class is completed you will receive the recording via an unlisted YouTube video for you to refer back to. Scans of my work will also be forwarded to the class as well. You do not need to attend this class live in order to receive the recording and extra material sent out with this class.
