What will the great crimes of the future be? Our guest crime writers tackle super-high-tech terrorism, environmental disaster, and world-changing medical advances, offering high-octane entertainment alongside thought-provoking ideas.

Michael Cordy is the author of seven novels, including the Sunday Times bestseller The Miracle Strain/The Messiah Code. Four have been sold to Hollywood. His seventh novel Manhattan Down, in which the City That Never Sleeps falls into a mysterious coma, was published in hardback in 2025 and will be out in paperback in 2026.

Eve Smith writes speculative thrillers about the things that scare her. Her third novel, One, was longlisted for Best Novel in the British Science Fiction Association Awards. Her latest novel, The Cure, was a Times best new thriller pick which explores the lethal consequences of a cure for ageing. It is longlisted for 2025's Best Novel in the British Science Fiction Association Awards. Eve’s previous job took her to research projects across the globe which fuelled her passion for wild creatures and radical science.

Festival director Harry Whitehead is the author of two novels, The Cannibal Spirit ('powerful, brave, ambitious' Globe & Mail) and 2025's eco-thriller White Road (‘a spellbinding adventure story’ The Morning Star), a Daily Express book of the year. He’s published many short stories and essays and teaches creative writing at the University of Leicester.
