DEREK vs DEREK FARMER SCREENING

Join is in the function barn on our dairy farm for a date night with a difference - think movie night with a farming twist!

We will provide supper, the bar will be open and you have one of the first opportunities to watch the full length version of the docu-film DEREK vs DEREK. After the screening, there will be chance to join our facilitated discussion and put forward your views on who you are going to back!

This will be a fun, light-hearted evening of farming banter, gentle discussion and plenty of food for thought!

A little note from the director:

“For many years I have wanted to find a way of telling the story
of the British countryside that punctured the illusion that it was
still a green and pleasant nature-rich land. Sadly the real story
is one of brilliant agricultural success but at the cost of a
frightening loss of biodiversity, especially since the second world
war.
I found Derek Gow, a man who was trying anything he could to
restore biodiversity on his farm. In following his restoration
work I hoped I could show how much nature had been lost.
Would his efforts bear fruit? But then I met his dairy farming
neighbour, Derek Banbury, and immediately sensed that filming
their ongoing tussles would be a great way of crafting a story
that could tease out the underlying issues in a funny and
engaging way.
My hope is their story will at turns amuse, entertain and provoke
audiences to think about the difficult questions the film poses”.
