This unique project beautifully weaves together folk and Celtic traditions, delivering a refreshing and festive take on seasonal music. With dynamic fiddle and harp arrangements, they'll be playing carol melodies old and new, as well as original and traditional tunes. The Pear Tree is more than just a holiday album; it’s a musical journey that blends traditional carols with original compositions, creating a collection that feels both nostalgic and innovative.
This special Halifax show is a community kid friendly event (kids get in free), featuring:
- Performances by young musicians & community members including Merry Time Music Co.'s Fid Kidz & Children's Choir.
- Kids corner with colouring and activities for children.
- Refreshments
- Carol sing-alongs
- & much more!
"To us, this album feels like: Christmas cookie baking in an easy bake oven, chilly night time walks, unbalanced Christmas trees, and Bailey’s dipped biscotti," share Ciccone and Gibling. The record also reflects their strong ties to Halifax’s North End community in Nova Scotia, where the album was conceived, rehearsed, and recorded.
Adrianna Ciccone & Ellen Gibling are based in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, where they both make their home in the city's north end. Individually, they are established traditional musicians, having taught and performed at camps and festivals across the country, studied with many renowned musicians, and recorded acclaimed solo albums. Since first meeting in 2020, they have collaborated frequently - as concert artists, market buskers, pub bandmates, event organizers, educators, and as part of the local community of traditional music. The Pear Tree is their first recording project together.
