Cabaret Latino: CANTOS DE MI TIERRA

Cabaret Latino "Cantos de mi Tierra" is coming back to Martuni's for one-night only! We'll be performing songs near and dear to our hearts and will share the stories behind these songs, the lasting impressions they left to shape our personal musical journeys. This will also be a chance to meet our new band members!

Piano accompaniment and musical direction by Daniela Rodriguez-Chavez.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

EDU GONZÁLEZ - Vocalist
Edu was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to the Bay Area for graduate school in 2010. Edu discovered his love for singing and theater at Martuni’s, the beloved San Francisco piano bar, and has been a regular there ever since. He made his theatrical debut in 2022 as a tenor in 42nd Street Moon’s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “A Grand Night for Singing”. More recently, he played the role of the Pirate King in Lamplighter’s Music Theater’s 2024 production of “The Pirates of Penzance.” When he’s not on stage, Edu works in neuroscience, helping to find new treatments for Parkinson’s disease. LAURA RAMOS - Vocalist
Born and raised in Veracruz, Mexico, Laura grew up surrounded by music. Her father was a skilled guitarist and well-connected to the local music scene of the era. Bohemian nights at home were the norm where both her father and mother would sing. It wasn’t surprising when Laura started singing in her elementary school’s choral ensemble and later became the lead vocalist for well-known music bands in her town of Córdoba.

DANIELA RODRIGUEZ-CHAVEZ - Piano & Musical Direction
Hailing from Kansas City, Daniela is a classically-trained pianist and music director, having made her Bay Area debut in 2023 at the Contra Costa Civic Theater with the show Tintypes. She has since performed with Chanticleer's Theater, Berkeley Playhouse, and at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Her favorite credits include Heathers, Avenue Q, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. When not performing, Daniela is a UC Berkeley PhD student modeling vector-borne diseases.

RYAN FRIEDMAN - Percussion
Ryan is a multi-disciplinary, classically-trained, percussionist with more than 20 years of experience performing in musical theater, jazz big band, and symphony orchestras. He has performed in more than 60 theatrical productions throughout the Bay Area, and played at very high-profile venues like Davies Symphony Hall and Saint Mary’s Cathedral in San Francisco, and the Sorbonne in Paris!

VICTOR SERDA - Bass
Victor regularly performs around the Bay Area in musicals and jazz combo settings and last year he joined the San Francisco Philharmonic. His most recent performances include Oklahoma! for the Castro Valley Art Foundation, and the spring concert with the San Francisco Philharmonic where he performed the (Scottish) “Symphony No. 3” by Mendelssohn and “Phaéton” by Saint-Saens, among other pieces. When he’s not performing, Victor coaches the jazz band at Granada High School and teaches group piano lessons at the Montessori Elementary and Middle School of Tracy.
