Locke at Broken Wharf, 2 Broken Wharf, near Millennium Bridge, London, EC4V 3DT
Description
You are (playfully) invited to an experiment in ‘Living The Good Life’! Following a 6 month group journey, we are filling a beautiful space on the Thames with unique insights and creative experiences in Play, Leisure and Rest.
After an opening sharing and ritual, you’ll be able to:
Play with lego, plasticine, poetry, colour, collage and more!
Join a group exploration on the power of play.
Enjoy interactive audio and visual installations on Living The Good Life.
Craft a community quilt on Restful Resistance.
Relax, reflect or ‘just be’ in a dedicated Rest Space.
The Huddle Journey:
For the past 6 months, seven women have formed the Living The Good Life Huddle – using Huddlecraft’s dynamic peer-learning structure. We have placed leisure, play and rest at the heart of our lives, in the spirit of exploring and living ‘the good life’.
We’ve questioned our own, and society’s, devotion to work and productivity and done more of what brings us joy, gives us meaning and makes us feel alive. We’ve slowed down and been spacious, with ourselves and each other.
Each person in the Huddle has been guided by their personal learning question:
How might we create places and spaces that enable joy, peace and connection?
How can play, leisure and rest bring vitality to my life and joy to my art?
How might I play more?
How can I connect with my community in creative play to live the good life beyond trauma?
How might play, rest and mischief unlock our world-shaping selves?
How might we reclaim leisure as our time for joy, meaning and connection?
How can I centre play, rest & joy more in my life?
At a weekend ‘kick-off’ retreat, fortnightly online meet-ups, two full day in-person workshops and through buddy chats and co-coaching, we’ve held space for each of us to share our joy and passions, creative experiments and practices, doubts and struggles, and ongoing learnings and projects in-development.
We now feel ready to share beyond our group and invite YOU into our ‘Living The Good Life’ experiment for the day. We believe leisure, play and rest matters now more than ever, at this time of multiple crises, and can’t wait to show you why.
About us:
We’re Benedicta, Cath, Eloise, Helen, Jahnvi, Maria and Rachel; a peer group of seven women from different walks of life, joined by our desire for a life of more leisure, play and rest. We’re from the UK, the US, India and Denmark. We’re now based in London, Oxford, Sheffield, Scarborough and Brazil.
Professionally our group consists of: a social entrepreneur, a multimedia artist, a facilitator & coach, two community weavers/organisers, a learning designer and a medical researcher. Though what we do is less important to us than how we decide to live and show up - but we thought you might like to know.

Timings:
The lobby/café at ‘Locke at Broken Wharf’ hotel (our venue for the day) has a capacity of about 50 people so to accommodate more of our friends, family and network, whilst retaining an intimate experience and cozy atmosphere, we’ll be hosting the event in two ‘rounds’ - one with a 4pm arrival and one with a 7pm arrival.
IMPORTANT: when purchasing a ticket you specify the time that you’d like to arrive/attend. Choose your ticket price (more info below) in either the '4pm arrival' or '7pm arrival' box.

Tickets:
Tickets are priced between £7-£17 per person (plus a £0.75 booking fee). This is to help us cover the costs of running the event. Your ticket also includes free drinks and refreshments.
Any excess from ticket sales will go towards the further sharing of our learnings and practices; such as setting up a website and developing a Living The Good Life resource booklet. If you purchase an abundance priced ticket you’ll support us in making that happen.
We ask you to self-select a ticket price that honours your capacity in this difficult economic context, and doesn’t leave you feeling resentful. This is our guidance:
£17 – abundance price / high income
£12 – standard price / medium income
£7 – reduced price / low income
We don’t want cost to be a barrier, so please do get in touch with us if you’re unable to purchase a ticket at all – you will be very welcome.
Kids aged 0 - 18 are welcome to join for free. If you're able to buy an abundance ticket to help cover the cost of yourself and any kids you're bringing, we would greatly appreciate that, but it's not essential.
Accessibility:
We work to ensure that our spaces are as inclusive and accessible as possible but we know that we may not be aware of all access needs and support that those who want to attend will require.
Should there be anything you need to support you to be able to participate well, please let us know when prompted during registration. This includes but is not limited to language, comfort, access (physical, emotional, technological).
