Give imperfect alternative photography prints a new life through weaving!
Part of the joy of alternative photography is the experimentation, but this can often leave us with lots of prints that didn't quite work the way we wanted them to. This workshop invites you to bring out those old and discarded prints and put them in a new light by applying weaving techniques to give them a new life. Perfect for cyanotypes, lumen prints and any other paper-based prints, you'll be guided through some simple paper-weaving techniques to create new pieces.
This is a relaxed session focused on revisiting work we might have originally abandoned, and thinking creatively how to re-use and reimagine old work. We'll be exploring basic weaving techniques and mini looms made from upcycled household materials to rediscover the beauty in imperfection, and bring different works into conversation with one another through weaving.
Participants are encouraged to bring any old works they are happy to cut up and weave, but plenty of resources will also be provided so that everyone can experiment with this technique. No previous knowledge of alternative process photography or paper weaving required.
Workshop timing: 5.30 - 7pm. Please arrive in good time for the start of the session in order to make the most out of the workshop
