What to expect

This free gathering is an opportunity to connect with others who care about community resilience, ecological regeneration, local food systems, and creating meaningful alternatives in today's extractive global systems.

In this session, we will have the chance to hear about some powerful localization initiatives from Japan and India:

The Seikatsu Club - Japan
Ryoko Shimizu will share insights from the remarkable Seikatsu Consumer Co-Operative Union — a 500,000-member cooperative that has spent decades building sustainable local food systems and fair relationships between consumers and farmers.

The Seikatsu Club is widely recognized as one of the world’s most inspiring examples of localization in practice: supporting local producers, strengthening food sovereignty, and educating communities about the impacts of global trade on food systems and daily life.

Regenerative Community Initiatives in India
Aishwarya Pradhan will introduce two grassroots initiatives working to rebuild connection between people, food, land, and community.

Grounded Futures is a women-led initiative in Sikkim focused on regenerative living, ecological design, permaculture, and collective resilience. She will also share about Foodwize, based in Bangalore, which works with producers and consumers to strengthen local food-growing communities and deepen people’s relationship with food.

The session will include group conversations and shared reflection — an opportunity to exchange ideas, connect with others, and explore how localization is taking shape in our own communities and lives.

About the Planet Local Sharing Circle
