Megan Jean and Byrne Klay!Singer/Songwriter Megan Jean and multi-instrumentalist/songwriter ByrneKlay are a married musical collaboration that began in New York City in2004 while Jean was studying theatre at NYU's Tisch School of the Artsand Klay jazz at New School University. Beginning with a residency atCBGB's Acoustic Gallery, the pair would perform near 2,000 times asMegan Jean & the KFB, sharing the stage with Charles Bradley, Shovelsand Rope, Amythyst Kiah, Reverend Peytons Big Damn Band, Paul Barrereand Fred Tackett of Little Feat, and 10,000 Maniacs. As a duo, they havebeen featured on PBS’s Music Voyager, Heartland Network's More Than theMusic, won Floydfest’s On The Rise Competition, and played the KennedyCenter’s Millennium Stage. As a soloist Megan Jean has perfomed with DreAnders, Jake Blount, and Gangstagrass, where her voice being featured inthe 2020 Presidential Inauguration Parade. Byrne has a wide array ofmusical experience. In the early 2000's he did multiple tours of Japan,Taiwan, Europe, and Australia as the bassist for Dynamite Club, anoutrageous punk outfit. In 2022 he began performing on upright bass withbluegrass band Folk 'Em All Trio, who were hired to back up thelegendary Joe Craven at Delfest three years in a row as Joe Craven andthe Y'allterations.In 2020 they relocated to Frostburg MD and formed the country andAmericana tinged rock band Megan Jean's Secret Family, with performanceson NPR's Mountain Stage and Delfest in 2024. The dup is an intimatesongwriting and story telling focused act that showcases the widenuances of the pair's musicality, with Jean on bass as the backbone toher masterful vocals, and Byrne showcasing his eclectic musicality onelectric banjo.
