Sustainable Fashion: BS or Breakthrough?

Tue 29 Apr 2025 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM BST Second Home Spitalfields, E1 5JL

There’s a great deal of doom and gloom – as well as greenwashing! – surrounding the topic of sustainability. This talk aims to unpick what ‘sustainability’ really means in today's landscape, and what it might mean in the future.

Taking a bold and optimistic look at this topic, we'll be sharing stories of beauty ingredients you've never noticed on the shelves, and  the next-gen textiles made from mycelium and banana peel that are poised to hit our catwalks.

We'll also discuss how our sensory desires impact shopping choices - and how biomaterials are addressing that need (after all, why do we all say 'ooh!' when we touch real fur?). Finally, we'll take a peek at the real world impact on people working across these industries.

Covering everything from cutting-edge innovation to ethical consumption, we invite you join us as we figure out what is BS and what is a real breakthrough in sustainable fashion and beauty.

SPEAKERS:

Olivia Pinnock, Journalist & Founder of The Fashion Debates

Amanda Johnson, Curator & Consultant of The Sustainable Angle

Andreas Andrén, Head of Business Development of Colorifix

Eva Lagarde, Sustainable Beauty Expert of re-sources (a consultancy that has worked with Charlotte Tilbury and Molton Brown)
