Details for the training:

Outdoor first aid training, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th, November, 8:45am-6pm.

This is a 16 Hour Forest School First Aid course, split over two-days. Attendance is required on both days.

This covers first aid for adults and children in an outdoor environment. It's not just for Forest School people, it is useful for all those working in outdoor greenspaces, parks and community gardens.

The course content includes:

  • Roles & responsibilities of a Forest School First Aider
  • adult/child/infant specific treatments
  • dealing with collapse (with and without breathing)
  • choking
  • bleeding
  • shock and minor injuries
  • major illnesses - asthma, allergies, diabetic emergency, heart attack, anaphylaxis, meningitis and febrile convulsions
  • limb injuries
  • poisoning in the forest school environment
  • heat and cold injuries
  • using first aid kit
  • outdoor learning specific scenarios
  • outdoor incident management and looking after a casualty for more than 10 minutes.
