Cambridge area roller skiing - Saturday 26 September

Enjoy Nordic skiing without the snow with this opportunity to improve your skills through the dynamic and fun sport of roller skiing. 

10:30-12:30 Beginners/improvers coaching - skate technique 

The aim is to get you rolling safely and give you foundation from which you can develop your skiing.  At this session we'll work on technique basics, focusing on balance, co-ordination and weight transfer.

You can book single sessions or for better value you can book any five sessions for £65.00 instead of £80.00 which can be used at any LRSNC venue.  You will need to hire equipment if you don't have your own.  

The group may include those who have done a previous roller ski session or have cross country skied on snow, as well as those with no previous experience. 

10:30-12:30 Intermediates coaching - skate

The aim will be to help you ski better, more efficiently and with less (wasted) effort and coaching will be tailored to participants' needs. This is for competent roller skiers who want to refresh/refine/improve their skills.

13:00-15:00 optional Busway roller ski tour

An informal, social/training ski for Club members & free of charge but please register so we know you're staying on for this or just coming for the tour.  

Skiers must be able to ski safely and competently without a Snowsport England coach present and have their own equipment. Direction, distance and a coffee stop are agreed by the participants.

Advance booking essential.  Booking will close at 6pm on Wednesday 23/9 or when places have been filled. You can choose the session you wish to attend during the booking process.

MEMBERSHIP STATUS

Prior to booking according to Snowsport England insurance rules you:

• must be a LRNSC and Snowsport England [SE] member, although newcomers to the Club can attend up to 3 sessions before joining.
  LRNSC Membership costs just £20.00 per year - please join here. Until 31/10/26 LRNSC will administer and pay for your Snowsport England basic Green tier membership so you do not need to take out separate SE membership for this period.

Or, if you're a member of the following please email us with proof of your membership:

• another Snowsport England club [of both your SE and club memberships];
• a Snowsport Scotland affiliated club [inc RAF Nordic & BNDS];

Or, if you are BBU:

• as there are currently no reciprocal arrangements with SE, please join SE or a Snowsport Scotland club and email us with proof of your membership.

Venue/meeting place: Longstanton Busway Park & Ride, Longstanton CB24 3DS - you can use the bus from Cambridge to get there.  See our venues page for more details.

Group size for coached sessions: maximum 8, minimum 2  [priority will be given to LRNSC members]

NB Please bring your own drink and food as the nearest shop is the Coop in Longstanton approx. 5 miles away.

COSTS:

When you book 'tuition only' remember to order equipment as well if you don't have your own.  Please bring your own gloves and cycle helmet or tell us if you don't have a helmet.

• Buy 5 sessions [tuition only] in London, Cambridge area or Kent for £65.00 compared to £80.00 for 5 single sessions.
• you'll get a place at this session and 4 more prepaid sessions to use when you wish, providing you book in advance.
• you just book the future sessions by selecting the 'confirming attendance' option at your chosen event.
