Description
LoneTree Live serves up the essence of Memphis food culture in a unique theatre production. A Bite of Memphis weaves together authentic interviews with a diverse array of voices, including local chefs, home cooks, clergy, and passionate food enthusiasts. The monologues are based on real-life stories from the interviewees, including Branon Mason, head chef at Ciao Bella, Rev. Paul McLain and Christine Todd from Calvary Church, Bobby and Derravia Rich from Black Seeds Urban Farm and many more. The production brings their words to life on stage verbatim, painting a vivid picture of the city's food traditions and the deep connections they foster within the community.
The documentary theatre piece is directed by talented guest director Nathan Markiewicz, who hails from Austin TX. Through the creative use of compelling narratives and engaging storytelling, A Bite of Memphis is a testament to Memphis' unique blend of tradition and innovation. “Our goal is to reveal the heart and soul of our city through our shared love of food. Audiences will have the opportunity to savor the rich flavors, traditions, and stories that define Memphis through its culinary heritage,” said Julia Hinson, LoneTree Live’s founder and producer.
Opening night will be a special grand celebration, featuring live music from local band The Hectics and a reception brimming with delectable Memphis-inspired cuisine and beverages. It's an evening you won't want to miss!
Special ticket prices for opening night: $25 for general admission and $18 for students with an ID.
