National Walking Day 2026

Get ready to soak in some of the most beautiful views Longford has to offer! Walk our Newcastle Woods as part of National Walking Day. Whether you're a seasoned walker or just looking to spend a refreshing morning outdoors, this is a great way to celebrate the joy of walking and the beauty of nature.

📍 Location: Newcastle Walk
This walk is 5.5km in length. It takes place on forest gravel trail. The route is over gentle short hills and flat ground We will start at our meeting point which is further up the road from the bridge, on past the Forgney GAA Club junction on the right and Centre parcs entrance on the left for another 500m (as you come from the N55 side) to the carpark on the right just before the junction at the Mullingar/Ballymahon road. We will go into the forest across the road and walk up to the Centre Parcs Loop. We will go to the right and head anti clockwise around the Centre Parc loop. The underfoot conditions are good on compact forest gravel trail.
