Michael Morpurgo’s Private Peaceful is a heart warming yet tragic tale that follows two brothers growing up in the rolling fields or Devon and their journey into adulthood that takes them all the way to Flanders and beyond during WW1.The play adaptation is a fast moving, ensemble piece that will take the audience on an emotional journey alongside the characters from the book. LWC’s version will immerse the audience in the heart of Devon through to the trenches of War, walking them through the trials and tribulations of childhood and the battle for survival in the broken fields of France. This non-stop, emotionally driven piece introduces a wealth of stories that the brothers experience through the memories of Tommo and the people he meets along the way, whisking us through to a climactic and heart wrenching twist that will leave you questioning moments of history that remained unresolved right up until this past decade. It is a tender, heartbreaking story about loyalty, love, courage, and the terrible human cost of war.
