Collecting the Pieces: MEDIEVAL WALL PAINTINGS
For the Council for British Archaeology's "Festival of Archaeology", Laura will be hosting TWO short talks on Cornish archaeology & history - each one linking to the 2026's festival theme of NATURE in some way! each talk will be repeated twice: once at 2-3pm, and again the same day at 7-8pm.
.
.
Tuesday 14th July:
Our first (inaugural) multi-disciplinary talk will explore the Medieval wall paintings of Cornwall's churches.
We will explore these beautiful paintings, which quite literally brought spiritual sustenance to the communities; using pigments from the surrounding landscapes.
We will discuss them through a variety of lenses, including their socio-political contexts, as we learn about some of the considerations of wall painting conservation (Laura is an early careers wall paintings conservator).
