Join us for an evening in conversation with award winning author A.J. West (@ajwestauthor) as we celebrate his latest novel The Deadly Inheritance of Everest Macdonald.

Hosted by local book blogger Rich (@richsreads), the discussion will dive into this riveting, dark historical mystery novel which is based on a true story.

It's 1917. As the Great War rages on the continent, Everest Macdonald is summoned to her father's deathbed and entrusted with a final urgent request: she must uncover the truth behind the murder of her uncle, the celebrated Victorian actor William Terriss, a crime that has haunted her family for twenty years. 

Everest begins her investigation, following a trail that leads her into the world of late-Victorian theatre, where fame and fortune mask obsession, envy and cruelty. With time running out and her father’s strength failing, Everest must uncover what really happened on the night Terriss died, and shed light on the unsettling legacy he left behind.

A.J.West is a bestselling, multi-award-winning historical fiction novelist and historian. Prior to publication he was a breakfast host on BBC television news. He appears regularly on national television and radio programmes discussing literature, history and current affairs. His novel, The Betrayal of Thomas True, was an instant Sunday Times bestseller, winning the coveted CWA Historical Dagger award, while The Spirit Engineer won the Historical Writers Association Debut Crown. With a passion for digging up forgotten historical stories and bringing them back to life, he spends much of his time exploring archives and visiting locations of historical interest, not to mention touring bookshops. He currently lives in Kennington, South London and writes at the London Library.
