We warmly invite you to join us at this in-person event where we'll bring to life, through realistic user stories, the challenges and barriers people face when accessing various health and care services, and invite your contributions to help us understand the problems and potential solutions.

About the event

The pressures facing adult social care are well known. Lengthy reports document the many challenges on service delivery, yet often focus on individual parts of the system, be it the local authority, NHS, care providers or other agencies. By contrast, this event will be about exploring, through a user lens, the source and impact of the pressures across the wider system, highlighting the problems faced by individuals who need care as well as those responsible for providing it.

The day provides a rare opportunity to come together in a safe and dedicated space where you can think creatively and more holistically about how we might work together to finally crack some of these big issues.

What you can expect on the day

This will be an experiential and interactive day where you can expect to be immersed in the user journeys of two individuals who need care. There will be plenty of opportunities for meeting with other like-minded people, whether it's to explore the pressures and problems in greater depth or identify opportunities for addressing specific challenges.

The LOTI Sandbox: What happens next?

This event marks the start of the LOTI Sandbox methodology. The intention of the Sandbox approach is to bring service challenges to life outside the live environment, making it more feasible to observe and unpick them with a wide audience. This will be the focus of this immersive day. 

The sandbox will also provide a means to design and test practical, innovative solutions in a risk free way. To help with this, we plan to hold more sessions in the autumn that will look at developing the opportunities identified during the day into tangible prototypes. The final part, in early 2025, will focus on sharing the prototyped solutions and potentially supporting boroughs procure and implement solutions.

This event is about bringing together people with many different skillsets and experiences. We are keen to welcome participants including: frontline health and care practitioners, occupational therapists, commissioning managers, health and care leaders, as well as academics, third sector and private sector professionals and technology and data innovators interested in this field.

Techspace Shoreditch is located in the heart of Shoreditch, a short walk from Old St (6 minute walk) and Liverpool St (8 minute walk) stations.
