Meet the UK Address Matcher Team
We are pleased to have representatives from the MoJ team that built UK Address Matcher and Splink join us to discuss the UK Address Matcher Tool.
The team are keen to learn more about borough Address Matching Requirements to support further development including a new API.
The session will include a discussion of:
- What councils need from tooling: Explore what matters most in practice: match accuracy, speed, ease of setup, ability to run locally, support for messy data, explainable confidence scores, auditability, OS data compatibility, reproducibility, and low technical burden.
- Practical use cases: Identify where address matching is needed and used in council work.
- Current tools and approaches: Understand what councils are currently using for address matching, including commercial tools, Ordnance Survey products, AIMS/ASSIGN, GIS processes, internal scripts, manual review, or local team knowledge, and what their experience has been with those approaches.
- Pain points and barriers: Understand pain points for existing tools, including poor handling of messy addresses, difficult setup, user experience, licensing constraints, limited benchmarking, manual checking effort, or difficulty integrating results into existing workflows.
- Opportunities for shared work: Find out whether there are common needs across councils and if there’s scope for collaboration.
We encourage boroughs to join with examples of their work and any questions for the MoJ team!
