LOTI Skills Programme: AI prompt-writing for council officers

This workshop is aimed at all council officers who want to use Generative AI assistants like Copilot or Gemini more effectively. The goal is to equip officers who are not AI experts with the confidence and tips and tricks to write better AI 'prompts'. These are the questions that we ask AI assistants to generate answers that we can use in our work. Writing prompts well is a vital skill for officers for getting the most out of AI. 

The session will explain the fundamentals to good prompt-writing, sharing tips and tricks in an interactive exercise, all whilst using the AI responsibly.

Who can attend this workshop? 

To attend this workshop you must be a council officer working for a LOTI member. You can see our membership, visit our website.

You must join this online workshop on a council-provided device (i.e. your laptop), and have access to either the free or Pro version of M365 Copilot (Microsoft) or Gemini (Google). If you are not sure if you have these products, then please contact your own council's IT support team.

*Due to the size of the workshop and diversity of participants, it is your responsibility before registering to ensure that you have access to these tools before attending the workshop. LOTI cannot assist officers from individual councils to access their own tools. If you have any problems or questions, please contact your council IT support team before the call.
