Join policymakers, scientists, regulators, environmental practitioners and technology experts for a two-day cross-border symposium exploring how emerging technologies can support the future of freshwater, fisheries and environmental management across the island of Ireland.

Hosted by Loughs Agency, the symposium will examine how environmental intelligence, real-time data, innovation and collaboration can help address key challenges including climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution and increasing pressure on water resources.

Day 1: Transboundary Policy, Governance and Participatory Water Management

Theme: Governing Shared Waters: Policy Alignment, Participation and Environmental Intelligence Across Borders

Day 1 focuses on the governance, policy and regulatory frameworks needed to support effective cross-border water management. Topics include transboundary governance, River Basin Management Planning, shared environmental data, citizen science, community engagement and the role of emerging technologies in supporting evidence-based decision-making.

Day 2: Modelling, Digital Twins and AI for Conservation and Biodiversity Outcomes

Theme: From Governance Priorities to Action: Predictive Science and Decision-Support for Shared Waters

Day 2 explores the practical application of emerging technologies in freshwater, fisheries and biodiversity management. Sessions will cover AI, digital twins, smart monitoring technologies, environmental modelling and data-driven approaches to conservation and environmental protection.
