This event is for professionals and those working with teenagers and young people.
The rise in teenage self-harm speaks volumes about the challenges young people are currently facing. We must dismantle the stigmas and create a climate of trust to ensure they are given the understanding they need to thrive. Understanding the science of self-harm presents opportunities to reduce fear and confusion, move beyond shame and create open conversations that foster emotional resilience.

Meet Beth, Founder - Lovely Messy Humans
Beth Derry is a scientist, a coach and a mum of two teens who has spent over two decades helping the world’s biggest companies communicate about complex issues. Beth founded Lovely Messy Humans in 2023 to share powerful insights on the science of being human that we can apply to our every-day lives. Having self-harmed when she was young, Beth has made it her goal to use her scientific expertise and lived experience to change the way the world understands and talks about self-harm in response to the challenges many young people are facing. As well as being a certified Resilience Coach and Havening TechniquesTM practitioner, Beth has completed a Level 2 Certificate in Self-harm and Suicide Awareness and Prevention.
Beth also offers bespoke training and talks for schools, organisations and health professionals.
