The Lancet will publish its first ever Series on men’s health on 29 October, consisting of three papers co-authored by researchers from across the world.

At the launch, chaired by Professor Sally Theobald (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine) we will hear from Jonathan Pimm, Senior Editor at the Lancet, from papers authors:

Rachel Tolhurst, Department of International Public Health, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK;

Webster Mavhu, Centre for Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Research (CeSHHAR), Harare, Zimbabwe; and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK;

James Catto, Division of Clinical Medicine, School of Medicine & Population Health, University of Sheffield, UK, and Department of Urology, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Sheffield, UK;

Srinivasa Vittal Katikireddi, School of Health and Wellbeing, University of Glasgow, UK

Sarah Hawkes, Department of Global Population Health, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia, and Global 50/50, Cambridge, UK

Derek M Griffith, School of Nursing, Department of Family and Community Health, University of Pennsylvania, USA

and from commentators:

Jeremiah Chikovore, Human Sciences Research Council, South Africa

Paul Galdas, Professor of Men’s Health at the University of York and Chair of Men’s Health Academic Network

Peter Baker, Chief Executive, Global Action on Men’s Health

The Series calls for a coordinated response to the varied, intersecting factors that affect men’s health around the world – including shifting masculinity narratives, social, political, commercial, and technological drivers. The Series emphasises that efforts to improve men’s health should not be at the expense of tackling women’s health disparities but that, when effective, will contribute to shared public good – the wellbeing of all people, economic security and social cohesion

The event will be live streamed and recorded.
