A show of two halves, firey, rousing political folk from Lucy & Hazel paired with the glittering soulful harmonies of The Georgie Buchanan Trio. Expect to laugh, cry and be transported to wild places.
Inspired by voyages to the Outer Hebrides, tales of ancient Celtic Goddesses and great folk singers from Peggy Seegar to Joni Mitchell, Georgie Buchanan is a unique singer and harpist on the contemporary folk scene. Georgie will be performing music from her debut album ‘Wise as a Fool’ alongside Emma Coleman (Me and My Friends) and Evan Davies (The Often Herd). Working with this talented band, Georgie crafts haunting musical landscapes of acapella harmonies and shimmering instrumentals. Interweaving traditional melodies with original compositions, songs and stories, Georgie’s music speaks of a heartfelt connection with the natural world and charts a personal story of recovery that is relatable at its core.
“This is beautiful, subtle and sophisticated folk music. Ethereal yet rooted.
I can’t wait to hear more from Georgie Buchanan.” Miranda Sykes (Show of Hands)
Fiery duo, Lucy and Hazel bring humour, care and directness to their political songwriting. Songs of nightingales, swamps, cops and landlords bring hope and rage to your world weary ears in troubled times. Performed in lush harmony accompanied by rich woven melodeon, guitar and clarinet.
The uniquely contrasting yet complementary voices of Lucy Huzzard and Hazel Thompson began to flow after the joyful discovery of each other’s provocative or songwriting. With inspirations spanning from Swedish Folk and Ivor Cutler, to legislation changes and stories of resistance and injustice, they are a powerful and entertaining new folk duo on the scene.
