We are SO excited to be able to run a workshop for Mother's Day this year! 🎉 

We'll be running a 2 hour workshop to learn 2 songs ready to perform as a flashmob* later that afternoon! 🤩

Our workshop will be for adults, and also kids/teenagers aged 9+ (all under 16s must be accompanied by an adult who is also attending, and joining in with the workshop). 

Lucy has been running choirs for over 11 years, and now has choirs across Yorkshire, Cambridgeshire and even Ireland, totalling over 500 members! With Lucy's skill and comedy vibes, this workshop will have you not only singing our 2 songs, but also having a FAB time while you do it! 

What a perfect way to get together with your Mum, daughter, or granddaughter, (or all three!!) to have an amazing experience together this Mother's Day weekend. You could even invite your special Mum, Grandmother or daughter to our performance as a special Mother's Day treat 💙

We'll also do a video performance of the songs at the end of the workshop so you can send it over to your family who aren't able to come and watch 😁 **

We can't tell you what the songs will be just yet 😉 but we promise they'll be upbeat, fun, and with a message to help spread the joy and happiness that Mother's Day is all about! 

And please don't worry about whether you're a good enough singer or not! You won't be asked to do any solos or auditions or anything scary like that! We also use lyric sheets rather than sheet music. Plus, it will be totally up to you whether you want to learn the lyrics off by heart for the optional performance(s) later that day, or whether you want to keep your lyrics sheets with you. We're not picky here 😉

The workshop will take place at Acomb Methodist Church, from 10-12. Arrival time will be from 9:40am, and we'll have a break at 11am for a few cheeky snacks! Parking is available in the residential areas of Acomb nearby, but please be mindful of not blocking any residents! You could also park at Morrison's just down the road.

We've set the age at 9+, but just ask that you only bring kids that you think would be prepared / interested in a 2 hour singing workshop! 😆

Although we'll have a break, we realise it can be a long time for kids at that age. You know your kids better than we do, and you will be responsible for your kids at all times during the workshop. 

We're pretty tolerant, but will reserve the right to ask people to leave if the kids are becoming too disruptive for the rest of the group (which hopefully won't happen)!

The flashmob performance details are TBC, but we're hoping for 2 different slots somewhere in York later that afternoon, and to fundraise for a charity while we perform. More details will follow as soon as we have them! 

Tickets will be £15 for kids (age 9-16), £20 for adults, or £15 if you're an existing choir member. 

* A flashmob is one of those performances where you all pretend to be innocent bystanders... but when the music gets going, you'll have a cue of when to come in, and you'll just magically get involved in the song... eventually you'll gather in one area to perform the rest of the song and absolutely WOW the audience! It is a truly magnificent experience! 🤩

** If you have any kids who you'd prefer to keep off social media, or you'd rather they weren't filmed, then please let us know. You can also opt out of the video recording at the end of the workshop if you want to. 

THE DETAILS:

WHEN:

10am - 12pm, Saturday 9th March. 

Please arrive by 9:50am at the latest. 

There will be a small break at 11am with some biscuits!

WHERE:

Acomb Methodist Church, Front St, York, YO24 3BX

WHO:

All adults welcome. 

Kids (aged 9-16) must be accompanied by an adult who is also attending (and joining in with) the workshop. 

Limit of 2 children per adult. 

Please be mindful of bringing younger kids and be confident that they will manage a 2 hour (with a break) workshop with singing! 

WHAT:

We'll be learning 2 songs together (which I'll let you know later), along the theme of Mother's Day. We'll learn the songs, how to sing them in a more 'pop' style, and learn some harmonies to go with them.

Lyric sheets will be provided, not sheet music. We won't ask you to audition or sing on your own at any point. We'll split the group into 3 sections so that we can learn some harmonies, and we'll send you a little video to use to help you work out which section will suit your voice best.

THE PERFORMANCE:

We'll be doing some flashmob style performances later that afternoon. Venues & times to be confirmed. We'll also be fundraising for charity while we perform.
