The Alternative Alliance of Idiots: a 5 day Clown Intensive for women and non-binary people with Lucy Hopkins

Have you ever thought you're a total idiot? Good news! You probably are. But not on the terms of the white-supremacist-ablist-cis-hetero-patriarchy of course. An idiot on your own sweet terms.

There’s a whole world of beautiful, real, connecting performance to be made if we can get in touch with our magnificent inner idiot, take a risk, follow our impulse and find the pleasure in being completely ridiculous.

This workshop is offered as an alternative to exploring clown in a male-held space. It’s an exploration: a powerful, sparky, constructing, creative space for women and non-binary folks to find and flex their idiot muscles.

Over the course of 5 days we'll create a unique idiot act. We'll invite our inner idiots to occupy space and connect with the world around them. We'll play games, laugh at each other, laugh at ourselves, perhaps cry a bit (hope not too much crying) and get some great insight into who we are as performers and the incredible potential of working with what we’ve got.

Lucy Hopkins trained at the schools of Jacques Lecoq and Philippe Gaulier. She is a high priestess of idiot and one of the UK’s best known female clowns, touring her genre-busting ceremonial shows and workshops around the UK and Europe. The workshop will take place at the venue Import Export, Munich from 10am-5pm from Monday May 2nd - Friday May 6th. We will break for lunch 13:00-14:00 each day, plus short comfort breaks as required. Bring lunch, water and snacks. Lunch is available in the Import Export cafeteria Tuesday-Friday. Please wear clothes you can move in and soft shoes.

This workshop will take place in line with any current covid regulations. 3G guidelines apply. Workshop will be conducted in English.
