Bridging the Gap: Integrating Maths into Vocational Education

This free event will include an insightful keynote session and three interactive workshops. Delegates will have the opportunity to pose questions to our expert speakers during the Q&A panel and network with like-minded professionals throughout the day.
Why attend?
This course will delve into practical ways to seamlessly integrate maths into vocational curriculums, making it relevant and engaging for learners whilst preparing them for the workforce. It will explore practical models that enable learners to see direct connections between maths concepts and real-world workplace applications. Through the session, you will:
- Discover strategies to identify and highlight maths skills used in various vocational fields
- Develop engaging activities and projects that demonstrate practical applications of maths in the workplace
- Acquire strategies to support ESOL learners in understanding and applying maths concepts
- Learn to empower students with the maths skills they need to thrive in chosen careers.
Who is it for?
The sessions are geared at anyone with an interest in improving their numeracy teaching skills and anyone interested in making maths more accessible to all.
How much is it?
The event is free to attend, with refreshments and lunch included.
Keynote speaker: Julia Smith. Julia is a National Maths Teacher Trainer for the ETF, a Project Lead for the 5Rs GCSE Maths Curriculum Model, an AQA Expert Panel Member, as well as a Resource Writer and Presenter for BBC Bitesize.
Workshop sessions: 3 workshops will be delivered by MEI exploring the practical application of maths in the workplace and the skills required, and strategies to support ESOL learners with maths concepts. MEI is a charity organisation aimed at improving maths education for all. They offer a range of consultancy and support services to schools, colleges, businesses, and other organisations.
Multiply is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Multiply Capacity Building is being part delivered by Luminate Education Group and led by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority as part of the Mayor’s ambition to make West Yorkshire the best place to work, learn and live.
