Got a killer pulled pork recipe? Prove you're the best Pit Master around at the 2025 Pulled Pork Cook Off!

Lupulin Brewing, in conjunction with Big Eagle Lake Improvement Association (BELIA), is hosting a smoked pulled pork cook-off! Bring your best recipe for smoked pulled pork to be sampled by the public & esteemed panel of local judges. CASH PRIZES will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, along with a People's Choice Award!

We only have space for ten amazing teams to compete in our contest, so register right away to reserve your spot!

All teams in the Cook-Off must be pre-registered and pay the entry fee ($80.00) to compete in the contest. 

Registration by July 31st reserves your spot and allows time to order the necessary meat. BELIA will furnish each team with four 8–10-pound Boston Butts. The public will trade one ticket for a 2-oz sample of pulled pork at your cooking site. Each person buying tickets will vote for their favorite in the People’s Choice category.

The Rules:

  1. All team members must be at least 14 years old. The Head Cook must be at least 18 years old or have a parent or guardian onsite.
  2. Each team will be allocated a 10’ x 10’ space to cook in. There will be no electrical plug-ins.
  3. Each team will provide a grill/cooker to be used exclusively by that team within the confines of the team’s assigned cooking space. Use of a single cooking device by more than one team is not permitted. One team, one grill, one entry.
  4. Wood-fired, charcoal-fired, pellet-fired, propane, or electric cookers are permitted. If you use an electric smoker, you must supply your own electrical service; personal generators are allowed.
  5. Contestants must adhere to all electrical, fire, health, and other codes whether local, county, state, or federal.
  6. Teams will be allowed to set up and cook their pork shoulder on the premises starting Friday night.
  7. Team members are required to wear a shirt, pants, and shoes while in the contest area.
  8. All contestants are expected to respect the rights of other teams. Have fun and be respectful.
  9. Any outside beverages must be non-alcoholic and kept within the team cook site.
  10. No campers will be allowed to park before 11 PM Friday night. All campers will need to be removed by 9:00 AM Saturday morning. Please be respectful of other teams who are trying to sleep after midnight.
  11. Each team will provide their own seasonings, sauces, and serving tools.
  12. Judging: Entries must be submitted in the Cambro box provided. Sufficient pulled pork samples will be needed for six (6) judges. No marks or items may be placed in the box that may identify the entry to a person or team. A ticket will be issued which will mark your entry anonymously.
  13. Judging will be based on three criteria: Appearance, taste, and tenderness. Garnish is optional.
  14. Plates or ‘boats’, silverware, paper towels and other items will be provided for public sampling.
  15. Sale of home-based products will be allowed if your product is clearly labeled, meets the standards of the Cottage Food Law, and registration (if needed) can be shown.
