Welcome to our permaculture workshop on design and implementation! This session will introduce you to the design principles and practices of permaculture—a holistic approach to designing regenerative systems that harmonise with nature. This workshop will explore permaculture zones and sectors. Together,  we will design an area of the land for growing herbs, discussing where to locate it, and which plants to put where. Then create a herb bed ready to be planted out in the spring.
This enchanting space offers the perfect backdrop to connect with the land, apply permaculture techniques, and witness how these principles come to life in practice. Whether you’re a curious beginner, already know about permaculture but want to deepen your understanding and see it applied in a different way, simply looking to deepen your connection with nature, this workshop will support you on your permaculture journey.

If you are interested in a longer course, please see the Permaculture Design Course in Dumfries & Galloway

About Lothlorien

Lothlorien is a therapeutic residential community owned by the Rokpa Trust. We are set amongst 17 acres of tranquil woodlands, gardens, and meadows near Corsock village in rural Dumfries and Galloway. Two residential buildings nestle within our site, including an original log cabin built in 1974 from locally hewn larch and pine. Among the rustic outbuildings, you'll find a workshop, gym, TV room, music room, and a meditation room overlooking a serene pond. The bountiful vegetable gardens feature polytunnels, glasshouses, raised beds, a large composting area, and an old orchard, all providing our community with nearly year-round sustenance. Meandering paths, lined with hedges and willow, wind through the landscape, offering a peaceful retreat in harmony with nature.
