“Evangelical and Inclusive: A Biblical and Theological Exploration”

A 2-day theological gathering for academics, church leaders, and church members exploring what it means to be evangelical and affirm same-sex relationships. The gathering will be focused on exploring the case for inclusivity in a positive and constructive way.

Organised by the Inclusive Evangelical Research Group.

● Keynote address on Thursday evening by Professor John Barclay: Is There a Gospel Case for Inclusion?

● Friday morning discussion of the keynote with Professor Barclay

● Two tracks for breakout sessions: ‘Academic’ track and ‘Church’ track

● Presentations and Q&A times in each session

● Time to meet and engage socially with speakers, delegates and organisers

The Academic track is focused on academic practitioners and students; the Church track is focused on church leaders and church members. Delegates may attend a mix of sessions from either track.

Sessions will not be recorded.

John Barclay is Emeritus Professor in the Department of Theology and Religion at Durham University and a leading New Testament scholar. He has been President of The Society for New Testament Studies (2022–23) and is a Fellow of the British Academy. His work on the theology of grace, Paul and the Gift, has been widely praised as one of the most significant works of Pauline theology in recent years.

The Inclusive Evangelical Research Group is a network of scholars and theologians committed to exploring an inclusive evangelical theology of sexuality and gender that is biblically framed and theologically rigorous.
