At Luya we believe deeply that poetry can be a catalyst for healing and a tool to push back against political oppression. We use poetry to reclaim our stories and build a healthy and accessible art community. We invite performers and the audience to take action in their communities, and actively practice the resistance they explore in their art. We prioritize featuring local poets of color regardless of their publication history or professional experience.

We hope to continue creating intentional spaces that encourage poets to make unapologetic art towards a future where we are safe, thriving, and free.
