We center poetry, but we welcome storytelling, music, and other art forms, as well. Each performer gets about 3.5 minutes on the mic. If you have a track you’d like to play, please email it to our DJ. If you plan to play an instrument, please contact us so that we can make sure we have the proper tech setup for you.

Our theme is workers of the world:

Get up! Get down! Chicago is a union town! Chicago is a workers' town. This city doesn’t move without workers - from food service, to healthcare, to manufacturing, to schools. This month we want to uplift the this city’s long history of labor organizing, and celebrate all the ways that workers in Chicago, the rest of the country, and all over the globe are taking decisive action to protect their rights, from withholding their labor through striking, building brand new unions, and organizing their fellow workers. This month we want to ask each other what it would mean to think of success, money, and work differently. We want to ask what it would mean to uncouple your sense of worth from your job, your 9-5. We want to reflect on all the labor that goes on around us that is unpaid, underpaid, devalued. What labor built this country from the ground up? Whose bodies were on the line then, and whose are on the line now? Workers of the world, unite!
