FLAME Northern Regional Gathering
Come and join us for the FLAME Northern Gathering 2025!
We will be meeting at Kirkstall Valley Farm from 10:00 - 16:00 (Kirkstall Valley Farm – Community run farm sharing vegetables with local residents and shops). This will be an informal day to meet up with other young people interested in food, farming and land justice from across the north. You do not need to be a member to come along, if you're just curious about what FLAME does please say hello!
The final agenda is almost confirmed and will be shared closer to the time, but the day will include some workshops on what things you would like to see from FLAME, a communal lunch, and a screening of the film 'Leaving it Better' made by Northern LWA member Rakesh. It will mostly just be a space for the day where you can connect with others in the region. If a group want to we might head to a pub in Leeds afterwards. The event will be in a covered area, but there won't be any heating so please dress warm and bring any layers/hats/blankets/extra socks you might want.
If you would like to learn more about FLAME to see if this event is right for you just follow this link (Flame - Landworkers Alliance) or if you have any questions about the day please reach out to Megan - a FLAME member organiser - using mdunn113@gmail.com
Tickets:
All tickets are free thanks to funding received from a grant from Farming the Future (Home | Farming The Future). Please do still 'buy' a ticket so we know how many people to expect.
Transport:
The farm is just behind Ready Steady Store, Kirkstall Road, Leeds, LS4 2QD, the What Three Words are ropes.both.camps
Through the Farming the Future grant we are able to offer some travel bursaries. If transport is a barrier for you to attend, just email Megan - mdunn113@gmail.com about this
If you can, please use public transport to get to the venue (more info below). If this isn't possible and you need a lift - or will be driving and can offer a lift - please send a message in the FLAME general or northern WhatsApp groups, or email Megan - mdunn113@gmail.com
Accessibility:
The Farm is around a 45 minute walk from Leeds central station, or a 15-20 minute bus ride on the 33/34/60A/A1.
There is parking on site for anyone with accessibility needs, otherwise there should be spaces in the streets surrounding the farm.
There is a compost toilet on site which is accessible by a ramp, however the toilet is not suitable for most wheelchairs. Please contact Megan - mdunn113@gmail.com if you would like to attend and this would be an issue.
We may spend some of the day on the farm where there will be uneven surfaces and a short distance to walk, if you have any accessibility requirements or there is something that would help you feel more comfortable on the farm please contact Megan - mdunn113@gmail.com.
We will be semi-outdoors in Leeds in October for most of the day so it will probably be cold and could be wet. Please bring a waterproof coat and shoes appropriate for this and any other clothing/blankets... that will help you stay a comfortable temperature. Free tea and coffee will be available all day plus space to be active if we need to warm up!
Meals and Snacks:
Free tea, coffee and snacks will be available all day and lunch will be provided, please let us know if you have any dietary requirements
Safer Spaces Policy:
As this is an LWA event, we wish to create a space of celebration and solidarity, and we’ll be referring to LWA’s safer spaces guidelines for hosting the day as inclusively and accessibly as possible. We are coming together around the shared values of food & land justice, and the Agroecological movement.
