Finding Common Ground in Conversation

HOOF (Hate Out of Farming) are LWA members organising against the growth of the far right in our networks and communities.

Staying in conversation with others is an essential part of anti-fascist organising. For our next HOOF political education session, we’re responding to member requests for guidance on how to have “difficult conversations” about the rise of the far right.

HOOF are partnering up with Hope Not Hate to deliver a bespoke workshop for LWA members. We'll explore how to work through tricky political exchanges, and we’ll learn some theory, strategies and tools to help build our confidence.

Together, we’ll try to understand why and how certain types of conversation are effective or appropriate; and when they are not.

HELP SHAPE THE CONTENT OF THIS WORKSHOP!

Have you ever experienced a tricky exchange about interpersonal, organisational or workplace politics*?

*any issues you deem political, not limited to parliamentary politics. Perhaps you've....

- Had a heated exchange with another landworker at the pub? 

- Disagreed on an organisational standpoint with a colleague or employer? 

- Worried about conspiracies or extreme viewpoints you keep hearing in your community?

We are seeking examples to draw upon for the workshop with Hope Not Hate on the 16th August.

Your contribution will help us develop scenarios that we will refer to in the training. 

HOOF organisers would like to invite you to anonymously share your experiences of such interactions through this form. 

Gathering these stories will build on our collective political learning of what is happening on the ground in landwork.

The form is anonymous, so please do not include any real names of people, organisations or places. We’re interested in understanding the common dynamics and types of political conversations happening in our communities, this exercise isn’t about judging people’s views.

You can also choose to share your story with us and not have it included in the workshop.
