FLAME weekend gathering

FLAME - the youth Landworkers Alliance - is having a big weekend gathering of practical workshops, skill sharing, political discussions, and music. 

If you're 18-30 and interested in agroecology, forestry, food sovereignty, land justice... this is the event for you! We missed out on the Land Skills Fair this year, so we're aiming for something similar, just for young people.

Bringing together around 60 of us, we are planning workshops like the below, but exact plans tbc! We have some great speakers in mind, with lots of different experiences. Let us know if there's something specific you'd like to learn about.

• Talk from The European Coordination of La Via Campesina
• Land In Our Names (LION)
• Out On the Land
• Films from agroecology schools around the world - globalising solidarity
• Film making workshop
• Land justice singing
• Crafts - wood, weaving, wool etc.
• Routes into landwork
• Compost

The event will be fully catered, and have a mix of indoor accommodation and camping. The location is The Beeches, Bamford Hope Valley (more info here: https://thebeeches.notion.site/guest-information), you can reach it by a 30 min bus or train from Sheffield, or an hour train from Manchester. The site is a 10 min walk from Bamford Station or the bus stop. We will also be organising liftshares, please fill out the liftshare section on the survey if you are planning to drive or need a lift, and we will share a spreadsheet with you. We advise booking trains well in advance to keep costs down! If travel costs are a barrier to you coming, please let us know on the booking form and we can reimburse travel costs, though we have limited funds so let us know sooner rather than later to keep costs down.

Accessibility:

We will try to make the event as accessible as we can - there is an accessible bedroom on site, and we can offer lifts from the train or bus station if you need. Some talks will happen in the building, others outside on the field. We can make sure there's things like seating or quiet spaces - just let us know what you need or any questions you have on the booking form.

We'll ask you more about if you need support with travel when you book tickets, but take a look at this document for more info on current liftshares and trains (each on their own tab).
