LWA + SALT Online Workshop - Employment Rights Training for Workers in the Agroecological Sector

Landworkers’ Alliance is partnering with Solidarity Across Land Trades (SALT) (link) to deliver an online employment rights workshop for workers, trainees and employees in the agroecological sector.

SALT is a grassroots trade union organising for fairer conditions, solidarity, care and justice for those who are employed (by others) in land-related trades. They fight for better standards of pay, conditions and working cultures and offer their members support with workplace issues.

This online workshop will be led by Claire Ratinon from SALT and will be an opportunity to:

• Connect with others, reflecting on the experience of being a worker in the agroecological sector

• Learn about your rights and some of the most common employment issues to be aware of

• Reflect on worker solidarity: what is it and why does it matter?

• Ask any questions you have about your employment rights

• Learn about the importance of trade union organising and how to become a member of SALT

Is this workshop for me?

If you work for an agroecological business as a hired worker in exchange for a wage or some other benefit ‘in kind’ (e.g. training, accommodation) - whether it’s a full-time or part-time position, on a seasonal basis or year-round, as a self-employed worker, a worker/employee or as a student/ voluntary worker - then this workshop is for you!

For business owners/ employers in the sector who are keen to develop their understanding of employment law, we’ll be organising a separate workshop later in the autumn. Please keep an eye on the LWA newsletters and socials for updates on this. More details coming soon!
