People's Emergency Briefing: Macclesfield

📢 A FREE community screening in Macclesfield of The People’s Emergency Briefing #PEBuk

This summer was the hottest on record - records that go back to 1884 - with five widespread heatwaves and 40 days above 30C.

As the climate and nature emergencies continue, what does this mean for everyday life in the UK?

Join the People’s Emergency Briefing on the scientific evidence. In a 50-minute film nine leading UK experts explain how climate change is effecting extreme weather, food security, national security, health and the tipping points.  They also lay out the steps to take and the opportunities they bring.

The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing for politicians and leaders which took place in Westminster in November 2025, calling for them to step up as leaders in this crisis.  The film features Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, Jennifer Saunders and a range of voices from across the UK.

Watch the trailer here. More about the NEB here.

After the film there will be an open discussion about what it means for our future, demanding action nationally as well as what we can do locally.  We're asking Macclesfield MP, Tim Roca, to join our Parliamentary Call for a televised emergency briefing. It's time for full transparency. Informing the public is a fundamental principle of democracy.

Seats are FREE but limited, so please book in advance. There will also be admission on the door. Seating is unreserved and the venue is accessible.

The film makers consider this a film for adults and strongly recommend a minimum age of 16 years, as does the Climate Psychology Alliance. Further guidance can by found here.

If after booking you are unable to attend, we’d be grateful if you could let us know so that we can re-allocate your ticket to someone else.

Doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm start.

This screening is part of the Season Of Creation, a month long eco festival of free reflections and events from 1 Sept - 5 Oct. Find out more here.
