The Mackenzie Caledonian Pipe Band is pleased to announce a special piping recital on Friday, April 17, 2026, featuring internationally acclaimed Scottish bagpiper Douglas Murray.

The recital will take place at St Mary’s Church, located at 90–92 Queen Street, Broughty Ferry. Doors will open at 19:00 hrs, with the recital beginning promptly at 19:30 hrs. The event will be BYOB, offering a relaxed and informal concert atmosphere.

Parking is available at the railway station locally.

Douglas Murray is widely regarded as one of the outstanding Highland pipers of his generation. A rare double Gold Medal winner at Oban and Inverness, he is known for performances marked by musical depth, technical authority, and a strong adherence to traditional Highland piping style. His solo career places him among an elite group of pipers to achieve the highest honours in the art.

In addition to his solo accomplishments, Murray has played a significant role within the pipe band world, having served as Pipe Major of the Grade 1 Police Scotland Fife Pipe Band. He is also a respected teacher, adjudicator, and reed maker, contributing extensively to the international piping community.

This recital will provide audiences with an intimate opportunity to experience world-class solo piping repertoire and reflects the Mackenzie Caledonian Pipe Band’s ongoing commitment to promoting excellence and education within traditional Scottish music.
