Ex-it

TLDR; Channel the chaos of uncoupling with craft and wit, and turn your divorce papers / breakup memorabilia into a badge of honour 🎖️

Pastries, coffee & a glass of prosecco included.

-

We celebrate hens & stags, weddings, pregnancies, births, birthdays, deaths... Every life event has a formal do and the greeting card that goes with it - except separation.

Ex-it exists to give relationship endings their due. This is a community, workshop-led experience designed to help you mark the ending process thoughtfully, playfully, and intentionally. We offer ceremonious chaos and creativity that pulls you back to yourself, letting you reclaim your story and rewrite the rules.

The Workshop & Facilitator

Having gone through a divorce,  I have first hand experience of how it is often framed as a personal failure. During that time, finding resilience within the legal maze, the loneliness, and the identity shift is no walk in the park. In hindsight, I believe it is actually a pivotal moment for reclamation and return to self, which is why I built an event to help people find a sense of community through cathartic self-expression, laughter and bubbles.

In this beginner-friendly session, you will create a highly personal paper and glitter brooch or pendant - a tangible symbol of your survival and your next chapter.

What Madam Makery Provides

  • Pages from marriage self-help books to repurpose. If you prefer, you can bring:
    • Your Divorce Papers
    • Other written stuff that feel symbolic to you (letters, texts, shared energy bills..?)
  • We will have other paper options, either for you or your divorce-support wing-person if you bring one
  • All materials to create your unique paper jewellery (glitter, glue, glitter glue, etc… ).
  • Fuel: We’ll provide pastries, coffee, and a glass of prosecco to keep the energy flowing.

The Vibe

Expect a relaxed environment where you can meet others going through the same thing. It’s a safe space to overshare, find solidarity, and take current events with a pinch of glitter.

No arts & crafts experience is necessary.

Who is this for?

If you:

  • are navigating divorce (or uncoupling outside of wedlock)
  • know someone who is and want to cheer for them
  • are a seasoned divorce veteran who still loves a dramatic exit and a big hat

you’re it.

This is an affinity space for all women and LGBTQ+ individuals. We ask that cisgender heterosexual men respect this boundary and do not attend.
