About the trainer
My name is Maddie and I have always had a passion for dogs particularly in dog training and behaviour. I run puppy training classes across North Somerset, alongside regular 1-2-1 training.
I have worked within the veterinary industry as a VCA for several years and have volunteered in various places working with farm animals, to exotic animals and rescue dogs at a shelter. I am fully qualified in canine first aid as well as having a level 3 extended diploma in animal management achieving the highest grade. I am also doing a BS'c in canine behaviour, training and welfare to become a canine behaviourist.
Puppy training class information
The classes are held weekly for 5 weeks, sessions are 45 minutes.
Class dates: 28th June, 5th July, 12th July, 19th July, 2 week break and 9th August
In class we cover:
- Basic commands such as sit, lie down and stand
- Obedience training, basic recall, lead manners and recall with distractions
- Manners around food
- Handling for veterinary examination
- Socialising (with other puppies and objects)
- Fun interactive games for your puppies to play and bond
- 1:1 support and advice
- MOST IMPORTANTLY - Limited class sizes ensure the most effective training and better puppy focus!
Puppy Criteria
For puppy's between 10 weeks to 23 weeks old and that have had both their DHP vaccinations. Your vet will advise when it is safe for your puppy to attend. If you are unsure about vaccinations please consult your vet practice. Puppies who start the course at 23 weeks old must be 23 weeks or under on the start date of the course as they are not classed as a puppy and would need an adolescent course!
Booking process
If you would like to book purchase your event ticket using the 'buy tickets' button. You will be asked to check a box to agree to the terms and conditions stated on this page.
Once your ticket has been purchased I will send an email confirming your booking.
For optimum results please try to attend all the classes and complete the course. To make the most of the classes and achieve optimal results, short daily training sessions at home are favourable to allow you and your puppy to practise the techniques prior to the next session.
The method of training used relies heavily on reward with food treats, food treats will be provided during class, it is also advised to bring a supply of tasty, smelly food treats that your puppy will work hard for and is used to eating!
Very occasionally the class environment does not suit a puppy or owner, full discussion concerning the best way to proceed will be undertaken at this point.
To avoid puppies being overstimulated please limit the amount of family members to 3. Children must be supervised at all times and agree to prevent them from disturbing the process of learning during the class. The trainer reserves the right to ask you to not bring your child/ren to future training sessions.
Although every effort is made to allow your puppy to play with other suitable puppies in the class for short periods, we cannot always guarantee this.
Every effort is made to ensure safety of both clients and puppies during class, by booking this course you are accepting that participating in an activity with puppies, children and adults poses a risk of injury to yourself and your puppy, you are also agreeing to make any person who accompanies you to the class aware that they are there at their own risk.
Training class/Premises rules
All puppies must remain on lead and kept away from contact with other puppies within the premises unless specifically instructed by the trainer.
All instances of accident or injury must be reported to the trainer at the time they occur.
Well-fitted harnesses and/or collars and a lead must be used in class at all times, flexi-leads are not permitted in class to avoid injury to others.
Head collars are NOT permitted. Other items NOT permitted - choker chains, check chains, electronic training collar including citronella, and any other equipment that the trainer deems unacceptable.
The use of physical force and punishment-based training techniques are not permitted in puppy class.
Refunds and cancellations
Please note - Because Maddie's Pawfect Pooches operates classes with a very low trainer to puppy ratio, unfortunately refunds will not be given for any cancellations. There are no exceptions, no partial refunds will be given for missed classes. I am unable to refund fees should you be unable to attend for any reason.
If the trainer has to cancel for circumstances beyond their control such as illness or adverse weather conditions, every effort will be made to provide an alternative class date, where this is not possible, you will receive a refund for that session date.
Digital materials and video recordings
All puppy class online videos are the intellectual property of Maddie's Pawfect Pooches and are not to be recorded or reproduced in any way. It is not appropriate to film trainers, other attendees, their families including puppies during classes, in light of this all filming is prohibited. For promotional purposes, at times your trainer may ask permission to take photos or videos of yourself and your puppy, please let your trainer know if you would prefer not take part.
I look forward to meeting you and your pup!!
