Sun 26 Apr 2026 10:30 AM - 4:30 PM Made in Stirling, FK8 1AY

Date: 26th of April 2026, 10:30-4:30pm

Artist: Charlotte Strawbridge

Cost: £125

Lunch and refreshments provided.

In this course you will learn how to capture the character and energy of wildlife using palette knife techniques. Through demos guided by Charlotte and hands-on practice, you will explore form, fur, and feathers with expressive texture and vibrant colour. You will connect with the wild, and bring your chosen creature to life with bold, intuitive mark-making.

This course is perfect for beginners or those looking to loosen their style, and celebrates the tactile joy and spontaneity of nature in bloom.

Upon arrival, Charlotte will walk you through the tools and materials you'll use, and do a demonstration of blocking in shapes and how to work large to small marks. After the demonstrations she'll guide you through some practices before you will start on your own canvases. This course focuses on building layers to create texture and movement when painting animals.

You will go home from this course with a palette knife, practice papers, and a 30x30cm canvas.

Most materials for this course are covered, but we do ask you to bring the following with you:

  • Apron or painting clothes
  • Box to take the painting away

Cancellations must be made at least 3 days prior to receive a full refund. If you have any questions or want more information please contact curator@creativestirling.org.
