Festive Folk Tales

Sat 6 Dec 2025 4:15 PM - 5:30 PM Pete's Games, PL15 9DP

‘Beyond the glow of the firelight, the shadows are waiting…’

Having spent the summer leading ghost tours through Launceston, local storyteller Lawrence Patrick McNeela will be sharing some of the darker folktales and lesser-known traditions of Yuletide in England.

Join us on Saturday the 6th December in Pete’s Games as winter darkness pools throughout our ancient town and Lawrence spins stories and yarns with his trademark inimitable style. At this time of year, England is resplendent with ancient traditions and tales, some of them sparkling and bright, some of them altogether darker and more arcane. Listen to tales of mummers’ plays, Pagan rituals and Lords of Misrule.

A selection of accompanying books from local bookshop Black Cat Books will be for sale during and after the session.

Suitable for over 12's

The event will be taking place on the first floor with stairs to climb.
