Malta is rewriting the rules on aircraft financial leasing. With new legislation on the horizon proposing a streamlined, notification-based regime for lessors, offering an alternative to full licensing, the island is continuing to cement its position as a go-to jurisdiction for aviation finance.

Speaker

Gaetano Intrieri – CEO, AeroItalia

Born in Messina in 1965, he is an Italian manager with extensive expertise in the air transport sector. In addition to providing consulting services to numerous airlines in different regions of the world, he has taught, as an adjunct professor, “Advanced Management Control Models and Analytical Accounting” at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He is a professor at the Faculty of Aeronautical Engineering, where he teaches Economics and Management of Air Transport. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Aeroitalia, the airline he founded in 2022. The company rapidly reached the milestone of 3 million tickets sold in 2025 and currently serves a total of 26 airports, 22 of which are in Italy, offering 43 routes between Italy and Europe.

Nicholas Valenzia – Partner, Mamo TCV Advocates

Nicholas Valenzia is a Partner at Mamo TCV Advocates. He heads the firm’s Shipping and Aviation Departments with a particular focus on assets management and finance issues. Nicholas has vast experience in vessels (including super yachts) and aircraft ownership and operational structures. Nicholas also coordinates vessel and aircraft repossession procedures on behalf of international credit institutions.
