Using a variety of inspiring themes, from taking to the wing with all manner of birdlife, to writing poems exploring friendship and connection, to the cold outdoors of winter landscapes, across this series of workshops we'll generate new poems and share our work in a welcoming and supportive space. We'll travel through nature on the wing, be drawn into the warmth of human connection, and exploring how we can bring the frost and crispness of the wild outside into our writing.
Using poetic form and techniques, and focusing on the detail of imagery and language, we’ll write together and explore how poems can examine the feathered and the human, natural landscapes and spaces of belonging.
With Jane Commane, an experienced editor, poet and mentor at the helm, we will chart the poems’ full territory of possibilities, and especially focus in on the finer detail of imagery, punctuation, line breaks, form, layout and how to polish up poems. Along the way we will read plenty of poetry on our chosen themes, and discuss how other poets work to achieve their effects, and the techniques make them so powerful.
Suitable for poets at all stages. Everyone welcome.
Tea, coffee, biscuits and plenty of writing inspiration included.
This workshop space is fully accessible, with step free access and disabled toilets.
