Community Code of Conduct
Our goal is to create a joyful, inclusive, and affirming space where everyone can connect through Afro-Latin dance, music, and community. By attending this event, you agree to help foster an environment built on respect, consent, and care for one another.
Respect & Inclusion
Discrimination, harassment, or hateful behavior of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes behavior based on race, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, body type, or any other aspect of a person's identity.
Everyone deserves to feel welcome, respected, and safe on and off the dance floor.
Asking Someone to Dance
A dance invitation is exactly that—an invitation, not an obligation.
• Ask respectfully.
• Accept "no" gracefully and without question.
• Repeatedly asking someone who has declined is not acceptable.
• Anyone may ask anyone to dance, regardless of dance role, gender, or experience level.
Consent Matters
Consent applies both on and off the dance floor.
• Be mindful of your dance partner's comfort and boundaries.
• Not everyone enjoys the same dance styles, levels of physical contact, or social interaction.
• Flirting can be fun and welcome when it is mutual and respectful.
• Harassment, unwanted touching, persistent advances, stalking, intimidation, or sexual misconduct will not be tolerated.
• If someone asks you to stop a behavior, stop immediately.
Remember: dancing with someone is not consent for anything beyond that dance.
Dance Floor Etiquette & Safety
We share the floor with everyone in the room.
• Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
• Avoid movements that put others at risk.
• No lifts, aerials, acrobatics, or dramatic dips that compromise the safety of your partner or nearby dancers.
• Adjust your dancing to the available space.
• Help create a floor where dancers of all experience levels can enjoy themselves safely.
Alcohol & Recreational Substances
We encourage everyone to enjoy themselves responsibly.
• Know your limits and consume alcohol or other legal recreational substances responsibly.
• Do not pressure others to drink or partake.
• If your level of intoxication compromises your ability to respect boundaries, safely dance, or participate in the community, you may be asked to leave.
• Anyone distributing illegal substances or engaging in unsafe behavior will be removed.
Community Accountability
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please notify an organizer, volunteer, or staff member.
All reports will be taken seriously and handled with discretion whenever possible.
Enforcement
Our organizers reserve the right to address behavior that undermines the safety, comfort, or well-being of our community.
Anyone found violating this Code of Conduct may be asked to modify their behavior, leave the event, or be removed from the venue.
We reserve the right to remove any individual from the event without refund for violations of this Code of Conduct.
