MCCSC COACHING CONFERENCE 2026

UCLAN SPORTS ARENA PRESTON

You are warmly invited to attend this coaching conference organised by MCCSC, which is aimed at Snowsport England (SE) roller ski instructors and coaches, as well as aspirant instructors.

• Cost of attendance: £10 per person (payable to MCCSC)

· If you want to use attendance at the conference as a CPD revalidation of your instructor / coach qualification then Snowsport England will additionally invoice you £10 after the event. This £10 will be payable to Snowsport England.  

AGENDA:

 10:00 – 10:30: Welcome briefing

 10:30-11:30: Uphill skate      techniques and how best to video  them (led by Alison Pawley; to take  place on the cycle track)

 11:30-12:30: Theory and practice  of building and using a balance and  agility course (led by Alistair Brown;  to take place on the cycle track)

 12.30-1.30: Lunch break

 1:30–2:30: Strength and fitness  training for cross-country skiers (led by Ros Brown-Grant; to take  place in UCLAN’s strength and  conditioning    suite) 

 2:30-3:30: Theory and practice of  using video and visual resources  (led by David Painter and Mike  Smith; to take place in an upstairs  meeting   room in the main UCLAN  reception building) 

 3:30-4:15: Tea break and debriefing  discussion on safety concerns and  risk assessment

 As these will all be interactive sessions, please remember to bring the following:

• roller ski kit (classic and skate) as well as a cycle helmet and gloves

• trainers (for the indoor sessions)

• something with which to make notes

• food and drink

• questions, thoughts and ideas
