An evening of traditional Irish music with the incredible 'Ox Mountain Quartet', featuring Siobhan O'Donnell, Stephen Doherty, Patrick Doocey and David Doocey and the awe-inspiring trio 'Niall Murphy, Dónal Murphy & John McCartin'.

Ox Mountain Quartet

"An outstanding take on traditional songs and tunes performed with an ease of brilliance, these four artists have formed a sound built on years of friendship and musicianship cultivating into something special indeed"

Hailing from Mayo & Sligo, Ox Mountain Quartet blend an eccentric mix of old & new. Siobhan O'Donnell on vocals & bodhran is an All-Ireland champion & highly sought after teacher. From a family steeped in music & song, she brings a wealth of traditional songs learned from her father & mixes them with some contemporary & folk classics. Originally from Boston, now living in Mayo, brothers David and Patrick Doocey, on guitar and fiddle, have stamped their mark on the scene over the past 10 years, performing with top artists in the industry such as Lunasa, Seán Keane, Sharon Shannon & Teada. Stephen Doherty, a multi-instrumentalist from Foxford on flute, accordion & whistles, has toured over 25 countries with a vast range of productions. He performs with The Seán Keane Band as well as regular performances on national television and radio. He is a multi-All Ireland champion and has composed a large repertoire of tunes.

Niall Murphy, Dónal Murphy & John McCartin

Niall Murphy is one of the most exciting fiddle players of his generation. He has travelled the world playing with the most incredible names: Steve Earle, Cara Dillon, Dan Tyminski, Liam O Maonlai to name a few. He is a five times national award winning fiddle player and continues to push the boundaries to experimental and exciting territories. A highly sought after session musician, Niall is a member of the powerhouse band ‘The Bow Brothers’ featuring Cathal & Stephen Hayden and has recorded on over 100 albums with artists such as Mary Black, Sharon Shannon & Nathan Carter. He has recently released several songs and has a brilliant, raw tone which we cannot wait to hear live.

Dónal Murphy hails from Abbeyfeale and is one of Ireland’s most incredible accordion players. Growing up in a very musical family, he achieved numerous All-Ireland titles on both the button accordion and melodeon. He is a founding member of the renowned Irish band, ‘Four Men and a Dog’ and the group have recorded multiple highly successful albums. Dónal has shared the stage with brilliant luminaries in Irish music including; Paul Brady, The Chieftains, Altan, Dervish, Maura O’Connell, Dolores Keane, & Tim O’Brien. We are in awe of his more recent musical collaboration with Niall and guitarist, Mike Galvin who together form the mighty 'Breaking Trad'. Since their arrival on the Irish music scene, they have been enthralling audiences worldwide with their powerful & high-octane performances.

Guitar virtuoso, John McCartin, brings authenticity and humility to his playing that translates effortlessly to any audience. Hailing from Leitrim, and another musical family, McCartin holds a masters in 'Traditional Music Performance' from The University of Limerick, showing his dedication to keeping the tradition alive. A renowned teacher and performer and an accomplished fiddle player, John is also a member of the group Garadice.
