We are proud to welcome Maurice Lennon, Ciara Brennan and Chris Dawson to Manchester this October in an opportunity not to be missed.

Concert information

The concert will take place in a private area of The Parrs Wood pub, Didsbury. There will be a mixture of tables and chairs for you to choose from and standing room, creating a small, intimate and relaxed concert, similar to that of a house session. Please note seating can not be reserved - arrive early to avoid disappointment. Doors open at 7pm. The concert will begin at 7:30pm. There will be an interval.

After the concert, we invite you to join us for a traditional Irish music session for a tune or a listen. 

There is limited parking in the pub car park but plenty on-street parking. Disabled parking available. Recommended age 16+. Please note there are age restrictions in the pub, no U16 past 9pm.

Cancellations & Refunds Policy – Ticketed Events

Tickets for events sold through The Gateway to Manchester TradFest cannot be refunded after purchase unless the workshop, ceili or concert is cancelled or rescheduled or there is a material change to the ticketed event. Please note, Manchester TradFest Ltd however will not be liable in any way if a ticketed event is abandoned due to any factors which are beyond our reasonable control such as, acts of God: including earthquakes, storms, flooding, power failure or fire, force majeure: including war, terrorist acts, and civil commotion. In circumstances where refunds are to be given, the refund will equal the face value of the ticket plus any per ticket booking fee.

Maurice Lennon, Ciara Brennan, and Chris Dawson are three exceptional musicians, operating in perfect symbiosis, combining their talents to create a sound that is both innovative and steeped in tradition.

Together, they have formed a powerful musical partnership and are making waves in the Irish traditional music world.

Their live performances are mesmerizing, with each musician bringing their own unique voice to the mix. Ciara's instrumental playing and haunting vocals complement Maurice's virtuosic fiddle playing, while Chris's ryhthm and intricate arrangements on multiple instruments add depth and texture to the music.

Whether they are performing traditional tunes or exploring new, original compositions from all three of them, the trio's chemistry and energy are undeniable.

Their music is a testament to the richness and vitality of the Irish musical tradition and their passion for the music shines through in every note they play. Whether performing on stage, teaching workshops, or recording in the studio, this trio is a force to be reckoned with, captivating audiences with their skill, creativity, and love for Irish music.

In April 2023 Maurice received the TG4 Gradam Ceoil composer of the year award and also has a new album with Ciara Brennan and Chris Dawson, entitled 'Two, 3, Four'.

The trio are receiving great reviews for the album and concerts and also performed live on national television for TG4 Gradam Ceoil awards, RTÉ One, TG4 Fleadh24 Live.

Maurice Lennon – Fiddle
A world-renowned master of Irish fiddle playing and composition from County Leitrim.

He's a founding member of Stockton's Wing, one of Ireland's leading fiddle players and the creator of innumerable, well-known compositions, played by musicians worldwide in sessions, on stage and studio recordings.

At 17 he was the youngest musician to have won 1st place in adult violin at the prestigious All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil National Championship.

He was a founding member of the famous Irish group Stockton's Wing (retrospective album released in 2020 on Universal records). And also his album 'Brian Boru - High King of Tara' also released in re-edition by Universal records).

In addition to playing on stage with all the great Irish artists, he has also shared the stage with: Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, Sammy Davis Jr., Stephan Grapelli, Michael Jackson, and also starred in the Irish film, "The Field" (with Richard Harris, Sean Bean, John Hurt).

Chris Dawson – Irish Bouzouki, Flutes, Dord Íseal

A multi-instrumentalist, playing principally the Irish bouzouki/cittern and various traditional flutes (including his own renowned bamboo flutes which he has made since the early 90's) and many other instruments including notably Irish bronze age horns.

Composer and arranger, he has worked/recorded with many Celtic music artists such as; Dan Ar Braz, Michael McGoldrick, Sylvain Barou, Alain Genty, Annie Ebrel, Maurice Lennon, Charlie Lennon.

Ciara Brennan - Fiddle, Vocals, Nyckelharpa, Mandolin

Awarded several times at the prestigious national championship Ie 'All Ireland Fleadh Championship' in violin, vocals and lilting. As a testament to her ability, at a young age Ciara was already invited to join Maurice Lennon (Stockton's wing) for his show "Brian Boru High King of Tara", a Musical Portrait. Ciara has since played with many other renowned musicians including most recently with Kila.

At 18, Ciara has been part of several Comhaltas Ceolteori hEireann (CCE) tours, such as the UK tour and the North America and Canada tour, and she has performed in several countries in Europe. “all-Ireland champion fiddler and singer and her performance here shows clearly why she deserves both these titles.” fROOTS Magazine
