"Mantra Mens Retreat is a world class experience for men to heal, grow and transform."
However, this isn't a retreat. This is an advance. This is training!
THE TRAINING & INTEGRATION:
WHAT TO EXPECT: All activities are optional, we'll go as far as you're willing to go.
WHAT WILL YOU GET FROM THIS: Our aim is to provide a life changing experience for you. It will be different for every man. But what we've found is that so many men arrive lost but all of them leave lost for words.
OUR WHY:
Men have gathered in council for thousands of years to share wisdom, strategy, and to listen, connect and support one another to heal. We use this element of council to create a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can fully explore yourself and share authentically in order to move through and release any suppressed thoughts and emotions.
Be it in work, family, relationships, social interactions or simply with ourselves, our thoughts and behaviours directly influence the outcomes that we can tangibly see in our day-to-day lives. By confronting the deepest parts of ourselves and being true to our core values we can begin to let go of things that don’t serve us and improve these outcomes. We do this so that we can:
MORE INFO:
An immersive weekend experience for men to express and explore what is going on with them without judgment, rejection, resentment or shame. It's a deeply supportive weekend experience designed to liberate and empower men to level up in their lives by shedding old patterns and stories that limit them. It's a weekend where we work on self improvement. Bringing back a sense of community we've long forgotten as men. This experience will give us the chance to really connect to what it means to be a man, and how we specifically are not living up to the standards we hold for ourselves. We Heal, Grow and Transform lives so men can show up better for themselves and the people around them.
So many men simply don't have the permission from their environments, their culture or their programming to go deep and figure out what to do with the way they feel. This makes it impossible to understand what they want or need to change in their lives, so they just keep living the same way until they can't take it anymore.
I want to offer a space where that doesn't happen! It's a space where we break down the barriers, offer that permission and liberate men from the prison they find themselves in. This is was what I needed when i was close to taking my own life, I needed a supportive group of men to hear me out. Not for pity, or to hear me complain. I just needed men to really listen, reflect, witness, offer wisdom and guide me through the process of letting go of the things that were holding me back. This allowed me start to make sense of it all, and with actionable steps and accountability start making the changes I needed in my life.
I couldn't, and we shouldn't do that alone. The age of the lone wolf is over. It's important for men to share with each other, to hold each other accountable in healthy mature ways and to call each other forwards rather than calling each other out.
At Auchengillan Outdoor Centre, deep in the wild Scottish countryside we are delivering a three day, immersive experience for men who want to create meaningful change in their lives, improve their wellbeing, challenge themselves, heal, grow and transform.
Every man will get something different from this weekend. Some men will shift big emotions or look at the deeper parts of themselves, while other may enjoy the connection, honest discussion and accountability with like minded men. Whatever you're coming for may not be what you leave with but what is true is that every man comes feeling a little lost but everyone leaves lost for words.
We’ve all experienced shame, guilt, doubt and a harsh inner critic at some point in our lives. Some of us have found ourselves caught in self destructive and self-sabotaging cycles, unable to reach out and ask for support from our fellow man for fear of rejection or that it will be a sign of weakness. Some of us have become stuck in a rut or bored with life, not knowing where our edges and boundaries are. These are all unhealthy patterns that create isolation and have, in part, contributed to the dramatic rise in male suicides in recent times (currently the rates of male suicide are nearly 4 times higher than that of women. 77% of all suicides are male).
It's time to break that cycle. Support each-other. It's time for true connection.
HERE'S WHAT OTHER MEN HAVE SAID:
"Life changing. And I don’t say that lightly. I entered the weekend with hopes of overcoming challenges and I went though a rollercoaster of an experience. But I have landed on the other side lighter, taller, happier and more grounded. I was challenged, stretched, and led through uncomfortable conversions and experiences. But all of these have had the most amazing positive impact on my heart and my head
This is a therapeutic experience that I didn’t fully realise I needed. I’m so glad I took a bit of a leap into the unknown because I have found so much good on the other side" - A
"I arrived still carrying many internal issues and left feeling a weight had been lifted and had clarity on how to change my life for the better."
- P
"Truly transformational. I arrived at what feels like a definitive conclusion to a journey I have been on for many years. Puzzle pieces that I had been collecting and trying to make sense of fell into place." - P
"I went in thinking this was something that I needed in my life. I left knowing that this was something I needed. I was apprehensive, nervous and unsure. But I was quickly made to feel welcome by David, the facilitators and all the brothers. David wove together a formula from the ancient ways of our ancestors to create a sacred space for us men to come together and look within through the support of each other. I thought I might have to look over the edge and have a peak, it turned out I dive in head first and when I was pulled out I found that I had been dipped in the potent magic waters of brotherhood." - F
"This was without doubt the most profound experience of my life. I find it hard to convey how special this weekend was. It was life changing. It was incredibly well run and challenged every aspect of what is means to be a man. It challenged me mentally physically, Socially and spiritually. The techniques utilised by some of the practitioners were so profound That they took me to places I didn't even know existed. The insights that I gained will be with me forever. The friendships and brotherhood that I have formed my new brothers will only grow and strengthen. This retreat has shown me the blueprint to be a better version of myself, to be a better father, husband and son." - P
"An evolutionary life experience that identified, explored and transcended physical, mental and emotional barriers." - M
"It helped me to touch on past trauma, overcome shame and put me on the path to having a loving relationship with myself. I believe that this type of experience, way off learning to live is needed now more than ever in the polarised and at times lonely world we live in. It showed me that it is possible to make genuine connections with people and highlighted the shared humanity that exists in all of us. It gave me hope for the future for both myself, my family and the world. I wish I could better encapsulate how important this work is and I pray all men will get the opportunity to participate in something like what I have experienced." - P
THE STAFF:
David Millar: The founder of Mantra Menswork, offering men life changing experiences through coaching, online learning and immersive trainings. Through Mantra, David brings together wisdom from his career in coaching and tutoring, life experience, his own healing journey and his training as a transformational coach and menswork facilitator. He began the company to provide the kind of support and brotherhood that was painfully lacking for him when he went through a period of dark depression, hitting a crisis point when he became a dad for the first time. He advocates for a reconnection to the wisdom of our community elders, and a reclamation of ceremony and rites of passage to mark the life stage transitions of the mature masculine, that he says we have lost, to the detriment of boys, men and fathers.

Reece Strathearn (Oxygen Experience): Having been on his own rollercoaster healing journey facing various challenges, reaching rock bottom, and dealing with the darkest parts of himself, Reece found the power of breathwork through a 90 minute video he was sent by a friend and transformed his life. This was the messenger from the universe as he saw it. This 90 minute video shifted his state internally and externally pulling him out of the dark place he was in.
After realising the healing power of breathwork Reece decided to go deeper, and learn more. *Disclaimer: All of our events and workshops are photographed. We do this so that we can share with the men of Scotland and the world what mature masculinity looks like, tackling the stigma around what being a man looks like in modern society. In showing this we communicate that vulnerability can be seen as strength and the level of healing that happens during our events can be shown to those searching for it. If you do not wish to be photographed we will respect your privacy, so please let us know on the form and be sure to let our staff know on the day.
