Medieval Music Concert:

On Sunday 12 April 2026 at 2:30pm (doors 2:00pm), in the historic Leicester Guildhall, Marco Cannavo and Steve Tyler present Musica Medievalis, an instrumental journey into the music of medieval Europe. Featuring hurdy-gurdy and its early predecessors, alongside harp, lute, citole, portative organ, bladder pipe, and tambourine, the concert explores rhythms and melodies from both sacred and secular traditions, interpreted with imaginative freedom while remaining rooted in historical sources.

About Leicester Guildhall:

Rising with quiet dignity in the heart of the heritage district of Leicester, this remarkable structure stands among the most important surviving timber-framed buildings in the country. Its intricate and enduring craftsmanship speak of an age when architecture was both an art and an expression of civic pride.

The site’s story begins in 1390, when the Corpus Christi Guild founded the Great Hall – a place conceived for learning, reflection, and the exchange of ideas. Over the centuries, its purpose evolved, yet its presence remained constant: a steadfast witness to the city’s unfolding history.

Within its walls, generations have gathered for study, performance, and ceremony. Records tell of public assemblies and dramatic events that animated its walls, and legend whispers that Shakespeare himself performed here.

This special event is not to be missed. Make sure to mark your calendars!
